Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Just Playing Around

This ATC is for:

Digital Tuesday, Heart to Heart

I found the Joker digital image and went on from there. I don't
know what made me think of doing this crayon background. But I remember
doing it in grade school. I got out my crayons and colored splotches of color
on my ATC background piece. Went over it all with black crayon and then
scratched doodles thru the black. Uhm.....I think that is playful.
The rest of the coloring is done with gel pen. I also added bag netting and gems.
The three blue gems are juggling balls, if you squint, that is.

I did this for the Small World of Inchies & Twinchies, Circles.
I saw this cute circle face stamp when I was doing a burst of
organizing the other day. I stamped the image 3 times on golden
beige card stock in black. I cut out the circles and arranged them
on a scrap left from stamping them. Distressed it a little with black and then
added the title strip and a couple of stars.
Nancy is feeling the frustration of hosting a challenge and not
getting many players. This is a really fun blog and Nancy is
very nice. I hope you visit and have fun making inchies.

If you'd like to ease my frustration with hosting challenges, visit me at

In Glorious Black and White

Black & White

Kim said "no color", but I added just a bit of red for the swan's bill.
Black swans have red bills. These are the most gorgeous creatures.
When I lived in Reno, we had a neighbor that had two black swans.
They had a kiddie swimming pool for their pond. The Truckee
River ran by our subdivision and every once in awhile I'd see
the swans bobbing along in the river. Here, when we
drive into town I see swans in several of the ponds along
the highway. Do you have beautiful swans floating
in your pond by Walmart, Lowes or the bank?

Today, at Squigglefly, the new SHY BEAR COLLECTION
is available for purchase. They are so sweet. I made this card
using black and white only. I like it!

My friend Stef, Glitterbabe Greetings, has been immortalized in a digi stamp.
The 'Shady Lady' image is by Squigglefly. Stef has a card made
on her blog. Here is a snippet of the image.

Yep, that's our Stef. She is the life of the party.

So Cute but So Shy

Squigglefly will be releasing their latest images on Monday....the Shy Bears......that is if they can be found. They are in hiding. I told you they were shy. We need your help in finding them. Our sources say they are hiding on 5 Squigglefly Design Team members blogs. Maybe even mine The DT blogs are listed in my sidebar. We are offering a REWARD. To claim your chance at the reward of 2 Shy Bear images of your choice, locate all 5 of the little guys and leave a comment on Holly's blog saying where you found them. On Monday afternoon will pick a commenter. If that person has found all 5 Shy Bears they will collect the reward.

Wedding Album Pages

My friend Sheri, Smiles for Everyone, is making wedding photo albums to send to her daughter.
The brand new Bride will be adding the personal photos taken at the wedding. Sheri had asked
some of her friends to help her out in making the pages. There were 6 of us that responded. Terrie, Jane, Margaret, Mel, Diane and Me.

I sent Sheri 5 pages but I seem to have lost one of them. Here are the four that I have on file.

This is a pocket page.

It was very hard to get a good picture of this. It is tilted so much
to remove the glare.

September Challenge 'Wings'
Dezinaworld is offering a wonderful assortment of her
Designer Paper as a prize.

Lady in the Clouds
My Wings entry uses a photo that was taken by my daughter, Susan.
I think it is one of my all time favorite photos.
It was taken from the Juliet balcony of their hotel room
in Guanajuato, Mexico. She was on vacation there with her
husband Will. The sun is just coming out after a short thunderstorm.
I altered this photo by printing it out twice. The second photo was
used to cut the sunny areas and layer them over the original. The winged
woman is from an ad in a magazine.
This picture hangs on the wall in my sunroom. I never get tired
of looking at it. It brings back wonderful memories
of my visit there a few years back. Susan and I spent a week there and loved
every minute of it. Guanajuato is a wonderful place to visit.

This card is for Flutter By Wednesday
Fairy or Butterfly and flowers

I used the image that Stef designed.
Thank you Stef for the Freebie. I'm loving it.

I love how this turned out. I used my new border punch for the first time. I made
the background paper by stamping a large butterfly randomly over white cs.

Small Smaller Smallest

Today I'll be showing you small things.

This is a tag made for
"Be Careful What You Wish For"

The tag itself isn't very dark. But I think that if I wished for a
Prince and got a frog that would be dark.
My background is direct to paper coloring using greens, pinks and Tea Dye inks.
The stamping is all done in Tea Dye Distress ink.
The image is from Dover. I subscribe to their newsletter
and it is full of free clip art.

Alice in Wonderland - Fairy Tale challenge

Here is Rapunzel sending a message to the Prince.
The scroll and window are clip art. The stamp
is from Fairie Song Art Stamps. I did the coloring
with colored pencils.

These next items are refrigerator magnets that
I made for the ggdesign
Veneer Challenge

The base of the magnets are all veneer. The embellishments
are all things that I've found on the beach or in my yard, except for the beads.
My kitchen is red so all but one has a red theme. The natural elements
got a spray of bleach water to kill anything that I didn't
want in my kitchen.

Here is one more veneer magnet all dressed up.

We woke up this morning to a lovely soaking rain. Which is good for
the yard and good for me. All day yesterday I had sinus pressure and a
nagging headache. The rain has made it go away. Yay!

I did have some things that needed to go in the mail
so we made a quick trip to the P.O. and the
grocery store next door. The P.O. is in our local bookstore.
I do most of my mailing there. I get to park in the shade
of beautiful Live Oaks. In fact, if I can, I do all of my errands
in either Litchfield or Pawleys Island. Almost all of the parking
is shady and beautiful. Our last stop was Subway where we got
a 12" tuna sub to split for dinner. I tossed up a quick salad
to go with it. We retired to the TV area and watched
a couple of the new Fall Season shows that we had recorded.
Two and a Half men was very funny as usual. The House
show was interesting but a bit too long.

Teddy Bear Picnic

This card is for the new challenge at
Colors: Yellow, Lilac, Cocoa
Cuddles the Teddy Bear is a freebie

This color combo didn't thrill me at first. But when I started on the card
it all began to come together. I like the color combo after all.

Etsy Shop

Yesterday I spent some time cataloging some of my new stamps. For the longest
time I've had the orders that I rec'd thrown in a drawer in the original package.
I got out my package with the most stamps in it and starting organizing
away. Wow, that made me feel good. On to the next package today.

It has been a very busy weekend

Friday was the Squigglefly Blog Hop and Saturday was the day all of Crissy Armstrong's fabulous
new digi stamps were available for download at Squigglefly. Have you gotten yours yet?

Congratulations are in order for Mary. She won all of the new images by Crissy plus matching sentiments. And, if that wasn't enough Crissy added some extras from her personal stash. Way
to go Mary. You can visit Mary at My True Blue Creations.

I also attended the Stamping Boutique Grand Opening. This is the card that I made for their challenge.

This is how my friend Stef posted the challenge rules.
1) tracey provided an image - you can use it or not
2) i provided a sketch - you can use it or not
3) the colors are pink, black & white - you can use it or not
Aren't they a kick. I sort of used the sketch, I used the colors and I definitely used the very cute digi stamp. I did the coloring with permanent markers and gel pens. To make the reflection in the mirror, I cut out the mirror from my image. I duplicated the image, changed it to a mirror image printed it on vellum and colored it. I then put it in pla
ce using my liquid glue pen. A little bling and a sentiment ribbon and my card is ready.
I also sent in a veneer project for the Veneer Challenge at ggdesigns. Wow, there are some mighty nice entries.
I made this pin. It all started with a boo boo. I couldn't let a good piece of veneer go to waste, so I cut it out and trimmed off the boo-boo. I added a pin back with glue dots. The rose is a translucent sticker.

The Grapes of Wrath

That's what I was thinking while making this card this morning. I had to make two cards to finally come up with something that I liked.

This is for Denise's Stamping Vacation Pick 3 Challenge. Denise gives us a list of 6 things to use in making a card. We pick 3 from the list to use. I chose purple, marker & spritz and vellum.
Have you tried the marker and spritz technique for an easy watercolor look? It's quick and easy and I like the results.

This is my 1st Card

It looked terrible. So I added floss. Yuk! I still don't like it. Look at the mess I made of distressing the edge of the card. Back to the drawing board. I stamped out another bunch of grapes onto a white panel. Got rid of the vellum and wrapped some floss around the panel.

My 2nd Card

Finally, something decent. The only problem is, it looks an awfully lot like Denise's card. Honest, Denise, I didn't copy yours. It just worked out that way.

Beginning tomorrow, right here, bright and early in the morning, I'll be
giving you a sneak peak at a NEW image from a NEW artist at Squigglefly.
Then on Thursday, you will get to see another NEW image.
On Friday, we are having a BLOG HOP to introduce our new artist
and her wonderful line of NEW images. Just wait
until you see what the GRAND PRIZE is going to be.

Let's see.....that takes us up to Friday. Wait, there is still more....
On Saturday, I will be posting my first challenge for you at the
Thats right, I'm going to be the new hostess.
I am so excited.
Join me there for this interesting and fun inspirational challenge.

Everything That You Need for Digi.....

I don't often post the challenges for these two companies is the exception. That's because I think between these two companies you will be able to fill all of your needs for digital stamping and scrapbooking. Squigglefly has a huge inventory of digital stamps. They are even carrying sentiment stamps now. And STAY TUNED because a BIG EVENT will be happening on September 19. And, if you want more FUN....see Stef at Squigglefly SNR for her weekly color challenge. You just might get a GOLD STAR. More fun can be had here.....

Create a 5 x 5 Card, using Moss Green as a base
and NO embellishments.

I've used the 'Gone Fishin' image.

At MyGrafico you can find many Digital Stamp Sets, Clip Art Sets and Designer
Papers. MyGrafico also has a community where you can exchange
ideas and ask questions. They also have a challenge blog

This week's challenge is a Recipe Challenge, 1.2.3.
1 Image 2 Designer Papers 3 Embellishments
I used an image from the Autumn Elements Set
which is also being given away.

My card is made by doing paper piecing on the pumpkin and the basket.
I printed out my image twice. One to be used as a pattern for the piecing.
I used a fall themed designer paper for the piecing on the pumpkin and another
paper for the background. I stamped the basket weave using
a ggdesigns stamp. Three Fall flowers are my embellishments.

Beginning in October the MyGrafico Design Team is going to be
divided. Team A will post a challenge on Mondays and
Team B will post a challenge on Wednesdays. I will be on Team B.

Catching Up with Scrapbooking & Crafting Friends

Somehow the days just got away from me. All of a sudden
I'm behind in posting in the divisions that I'm in at
You should stop'll
see lots of people that you know.

1st the Vintage Div
Theme 'Hair'

The image is a copy of a Degas print that I framed, all from Printmaster.

Digi/Hybrid Div
Theme 'Shoe'

This was also created in Printmaster with floral embellishments.

Theme 'Dress'
This is from the cutest digi stamp set at MyGrafico called Best Friends Stickies set.
This is done with colored pencil and chalk ink. I think they got a little
sunburned showing off their new dresses.

Stampers Div
Theme 'Four'

Yes, I still love to stamp. This is a stamp that I received from
one of the ladies that requested a veneer sample for the challenge at
ggdesigns (thru September). I love her quirkiness. I thought she fit
with the Wild 4 You theme of this card.

Downtown today in Myrtle Beach is the annual yard sale. We left the house this morning to start our day at the Spring House Restaurant to fuel up for our morning of shopping. When we arrived at the Convention Center at 7 a.m. the parking lot was already packed. I guess everyone had the same 'get there early' idea.
We entered the lobby and I told Lorne that if we got separated he could find me here waiting on a bench. We started walking. Lorne turned to say something to me and I was gone. He finally saw me and laughed because we were separated already.

There were vendors outside, in the lobby and in the room inside. I started outside. I found some trims for crafting out there. I came in toured the lobby and then went in the big room. They had row after row of tables inside, 280 of them. I wandered up and down the aisles, not really finding anything. Then I came to the Sav-Our-Cats table. OMG! Paperbacks 25c. I got a huge armload of books from them. I wandered down a couple of more aisles and called it a day.

Lastnight I started working on this project for the Art on the Darkside Challenge. Our theme this week is 'Lurking in the Shadows'. My project doesn't depict lurking but it does have something happening in the shadows.

These are the components that I used to create my piece.
I started with the picture of the shadowed corridor.
I was looking at this picture visualizing a Spanish theme.
I did all of this in my Printmaster. After adding the corridor, I
narrowed it to make it appear longer. Next came the Spanish dancer.
I had some trouble getting her in the right spot in the right size. I think
this works. It looked pretty plain. I decided to do a trellis of roses.
I chose some pink and red roses.
It took me a while to crop, resize and place the roses in an
arrangement to replicate a trellis. The pot was about the last
thing that I added to complete the picture. I added the
black to red blend background to suggest more shadow.

Show and Tell

A few days back during the MyGrafico Blog Hop, Cat won my prize image the Gumball Machine
from the Candy Shoppe Set. Cat's blog is called Cat's Crafty Corner. And, a crafty girl she is.
I asked Cat to share what she made with the image. Here are the two FABULOUS cards that she sent.

Aren't they wonderful. Stop in and say hello to Cat.

We are Having Such Lovely Weather......

The temperature has dropped about 10 degrees. I have been so busy outside. Not inside creating.
In the last 3 days I've done a big yard cleanup, pulled MORE weeds, mowed and cleaned out the back screen porch. I've started a donation box for the Goodwill Store and we've taken two car loads to the recycle dump. Whew!!!

I was up extra early this a.m. and I used that time to be creative, inside. My This Week is Jeanette is posted. This week features links to online FREEBIES. Some of these you might have already. I say that because I might have visited that link through your blog. But, just maybe, you'll find something new.

Speaking of Freebies this Comanche Child image is from Art Freebies. I used it in a card for
Denise's Stamping Vacation Pick 3 Challenge posted on Tuesday. My 3 from her list of 6 are:
Landscape scene, more that one shade of brown and sentiment stamped over image. Here is my card. I just couldn't resist adding a feather. I probably found it on the beach. I couldn't bring myself to place the sentiment across this beautiful child's face. Denise, will the
bottom edge qualify?

This next one is for Danni at Flutter By Weds. Danni is celebrating her birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANNI and MANY MORE!. The challenge this week is PINK which is her favorite color.

My pink and green papers are from SU. The diecut flowers are from K & Company.
The butterfly stamp is from CowTown Stamps. And, silly me, I've JUST discovered
glue dots. What nifty little devils. All of the diecuts and butterfly are adhered using
my new box of glue dots. I got them at Tuesday Morning. Just now getting this link
I found out they have an online catalog. At their store they have a small scrapbooking
department that has some pretty nice bargains. I came home with
several things.

Autumn Harvest

This is this weeks inspiration image from Soartful.
When I looked at this I saw a 'vintage fruit label'. I
brought up my Printmaster program and created this.

To create the orange and gold borders, I added a square and resized it
to fit. The square came up in black and I change it to orange. I did the
same with the gold border. I created the sentiment in the Headline feature
of my program and used an autumn color blend. The leaves are
an image from their image gallery. I just resized and placed
on top of the original image.

Back in my working days Lorne and I took our vacation in Florida.
We stopped at a local citrus farm and I had a box of mixed citrus
fruits sent back to the office. Fresh fruit from Florida in November
was a nice treat for my coworkers back in cold Reno, NV.

For years I sponsored a manatee from Blue Spring State Park. We visited there
but we were early for the manatees so I didn't get to see my manatee Emma.
I guess those visits to Florida started my love affair with the southern beaches of the Atlantic.
I really never dreamed that I would end up living near one. Life is
just full of surprises.
