Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Happy Halloween

I'm so happy today.
Soartful Challenges first challenge at the new address is now open.
'Step Into My Parlor' is the first challenge posted.
I hope you will stop by and be inspired to play along.

Here are two of my favorite Trick or Treaters.
My daughter Susan and husband Will. They often
celebrate 'Day of the Dead' in Los Angeles.

I sure wouldn't Trick or Treat at this house. Spooky!
I made this for a postcard swap at Rubberstampchat.
Have you visited their RSC Virtual Convention yet for your
discount items?

Also, this sale at MyGrafico is still going on.

Tomorrow, Nov 1, Squigglefly will be unveiling of their new images.

Isn't the Scarecrow Supposed to Scare Away the Crow

Well, it's just backwards here.
My card for Show & Tell in
the Designs for a New Beginning group
is for the Halloween challenge.

My background is from my Printmaster as well as the crow.
The cute scarecrow is from Ildi Co Digi Stamps. This was
for a challenge of theirs here, but I missed it. A new one is up now.

I love this little scarecrow. When I saw the image this is what came
to my mind. I embellished the card with raffia.

Tomorrow will be our first challenge in Soartful's new home.
Please stop by and join in. The Gift Box is getting very full now.
I add something new everyday until the Nov 14th drawing.
Everyone is WELCOME!

My bead project has progressed as far as setting out some paper out
to cut in the required long triangles. I've had to set that aside
for now. There are a couple of projects (deadlines fast approaching) that
I have to get in the mail.
I'm making a card for an exchange with a 'Dog' theme.
And, I'm going to be making my very first ever Art Doll.

Have you been shopping yet at RSCs Virtual Convention

One Rubber Stamped and One Digi Card

First the traditional rubber stamped card.
Laurel at CowTown Stamps has just sent me a bunch
of stamps to use in designing new cards for the store.
I can't link you at this time...her link seems to be 'broken' for
the moment. As you can see, I'm in full swing for Fall.
I used all of the pretty fall colors for this card. I don't know
if I consider lavender a fall color but it's in there too. The
designer paper has the tiniest hint of lavender in the print so
I added a couple of subtle lavender corners.

Now, for the digi stamped card.
Squigglefly just keeps the NEW images coming. The one
I'm giving you a sneak peak of today will be available on Nov 1.

The baby is the new digi stamp that will be available Nov 1. The pacifier is from
the Baby Set also available at Squigglefly. The background paper is from my
Printmaster software. I added bits of knotted yarn to give the illusion of a
quilt to the dp. Darn, its's so hard to see here. My sentiment is made with
extra blocks from the quilt. Two of the blocks already had letters in them.
Two were blank and I wrote those in myself. Can you tell which ones I did?

Twice a year RSC holds these wonderful virtual conventions.
This is where you can one stop shop and everything is on discount.
I just counted 22 vendors that have virtual booths at the convention.
And, there is a Scavenger Hunt with prizes.
It officially opens at 9:00 a.m. PST.
Pour a fresh cup of coffee, browse, buy.
I really look forward to this fun event.
Where's my credit card? OMG! I neeeeeeed it now!

Thunder and Lightning, Oh My

There is nothing like a huge clap of thunder to get you out of bed.
That's what happened to me around 2 a.m. BOOM....and I
popped right out of that bed. The storm lasted about an hour.

Today is the Weds Sketch challenge at MyGrafico

Here is my card using this sketch

with images from this Mix and Max Flower Set
which is the prize for this week.

This simple card was all done on my computer. The only thing that I did by
hand was to cut and pop out an extra blossom.
There are some beautiful samples on the challenge blog page.
You will also find the Monday challenge there.
Try both...you might win this nice flower stem set.

I am starting on a Paper Bead making project. I was sent this
quill with handle for rolling beads by Chuck Johnson at C-5 Creations

complimanets of Charlotte at ggdesigns.
Charlotte has been making beads with the scraps left over
from her Watercolor challenge (going on now, here).

Here is Charlotte's very entertaining account of her paper bead
making experience. Take note of the cutest Bead Winder that
she used designed by Chuck.

So I'll be sharing my bead making experiences with you also.
The first thing that I need to do is cut my strips for the beads.
These are cut in long triangles like this.

And, I should end up with pretty beads that look like this.

The last two images are from About.com

I had a Dream in Shades of Pink

In this dream I went to Japan to see the beautiful cherry trees in bloom.

These sweet Kokeshi Dolls were everywhere.
For this layout I used Kawaii Kokeshi Stamps from MyGrafico. I used
them for the ATC and the card.

I would love to visit
Japan someday. But, for now, it will have be
only in my dreams.

My doll projects
were made for the
challenges.

Did you know they are having a challenge
for non-DT Members at Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends, Here. You
might win the Spring Fairy Stamp Set from MyGrafico.

My Soartful challenges is having blog candy to celebrate
moving to it's new address. So far I have 5 items packed
in the gift box.

I'll be adding something to the gift box everyday until one
lucky commenter is chosen to receive the gift box on Nov. 14.
We will be having our first challenge at our new address October 31.
Everyone is welcome at Soartful.

Monday, Monday and Squigglefly

AUTOPOST DID NOT AUTOPOST

My first 'gatefold' card and I did it for the DT
at Squigglefly for this week's challenge.
I used 'Footsteps in the Sand' digi image that you
can buy here for only $.99. I found the 'footsteps' poem on the internet.
I used chalks for coloring and used a squirt or two of hairspray for the fixative.

When I go walking on the beach
(which I don't do often enough these days) I leave barefoot prints.
I love to wade right along the shore line and look for shells.

My sandy feet...ahhhhhh

Early morning on the way to the beach.

Yesterday I checked my post comments for the past few days and there
I found a comment from Teresa one of our Squigglefly artists.
OMG!!! You must visit her wonderful web site. You will find
page after page of wonderful information and artwork.

Enjoy

It's a SNR Card Universe Kind of Day

Thats because both of the challenges that I'm posting today come from SNR Card Universe. First,is from Ildi Co Digital Stamps. They have a forum group at SNR. The challenge is 'In Stitches' I did real stitching with embroidery floss. I used the freebie Cuddles image that was provided for this challenge. I wish I were as slim and trim as this little guy. I guess that is because he is getting his exercise raking. Here am I, sitting at my computer.
My fingers are nice and slim.

I love the colors that I used on the In Stitches challenge and lo and behold Stef at SNR Squigglefly Color Challenge chose very similar colors. I had to start from scratch because I needed a Squigglefly image.

. I chose 3 Cat Pile-up by Crissy Armstrong. They sure are a brilliant yellow and orange. Psychedelic kitties any one? I remember way back... when my children were in grade school... our kitchen was done in these colors. Oh my...what was I thinking!

I have been very busy this morning. Did you notice the header or banner or whatever you call them? I did that bright and early this morning. I think it turned out pretty nice. Now I'm looking for a new background.

At Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends Blog I've posted some papers that you can save and use. Stop by and help yourself.

For anyone new to digital stamping I found this interesting site called Angels Landing that has tutorials. They seem to be easy to understand.

Bouquets of Friendship

Here are two beautiful cards that feature flowers.
I love getting Happy Mail.

From Linda Jo
(blog not available)
I received this card in a one on one swap at Cardmaker.
Linda Jo is one of many wonderful stamping friends that
I've met in the group. I love this simple but very elegant card.
I've still got to send Linda Jo's card
out to her. It will be coming soon Linda Jo.

From Holly
You really can't appreciate all of the detail in this card. The coloring is
superb. Some of the flowers are popped out and some have sparkles
for their centers. I just love the colors.
Holly does so much for us at Squigglefly. I'm not sure we could
manage at all without her. And, as a bonus her sister, Lynne Stansbery, is
the Squigglefly artist that created this darling 'Shy Bear' digi stamp.
Holly and Lynne make a wonderful team.

This is a post card that I sent in a swap representing my
last summer fling. My inspiration came from the annual
Loggerhead turtle hatch that happens this time of the year on
our local beaches.

It is made on a veneer postcard stamped with permanent black
ink. The blue background is done with chalk.

Enjoy

I Love this Watercolor Technique

Ida has a wonderful tutorial and challenge at
ggdesigns going on now.

Here is my submission for Ida's Watercolor Challenge

I wanted to use fall colors for this and not anything to gaudy. I don't
think pilgrims were all that colorful. But, who really knows.
I chose a multicolored stamp pad in oranges and browns dye ink.
Got my image colored and gave it a couple of spritzs with
my mister. I stamped on to watercolor paper.
I did the sentiment the same way.
After trimming up my paper, I distressed the edges with
my scissors and some Tea Dye Distress ink. My orange panel
came distressed but I added a bit more on the edges.
The base card is plain brown. The embellishment
is dried corn silk. I was cleaning the corn for dinner one night
and thought why am I throwing this away? I dried it and a few
of the husk leaves.
The stamps that I used are from CowTown Stamps.

There is also a fun way to make paper beads using your scraps
available at ggdesigns, here. I think you will enjoy Charlotte's
'Great Paper Bead Making Saga'. It's very entertaining reading.

While in LA I was treated to a night at the theater. The Mark
Taper Forum in the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion was playing
the musical 'Parade'. This was not your usual musical fare.
The story is based on an unfortunate true experience in 1913 Atlanta.
It was one of the most wonderful and stirring evenings I've had
in a long time. Wonderful.

I think I'm Still on Pacific Time

>Weds is the Sketch Challenge and
Monday is the Color Challenge
So 2 chances to win a free set of MyGrafico Digi Stamps.

This week we are featuring the

I probably shouldn't show you this sketch but......here it is.

Because my Recipe Card is a real stretch

But, I like how it turned out. And, the smoothies are pretty good, too.

Well, I had a wonderful trip out west to see my family. I'm happy to
say they are all doing fine. It was so good to see them all well and happy.

I'm still trying to get myself caught up and organized. I have
a couple of projects ready to start. Which I'd better be getting to soon.

ggdesigns has extended Ida's wonderful 'Watercolor challenge' for 2
weeks. Ida's computer has stopped working at a very inopportune time.
Yogi has stepped in to answer questions for Ida until she is up and running again.
The entries have started to arrive and they are beautiful. There is also
a wonderful side craft to doing this project....making paper beads.
Charlotte has a very entertaining blog post about her paper bead making
experience, here. I hope you stop in and visit.

One more thing....if you haven't joined the very friendly RubberStampChat
forum...now is the time. Beginning October 29, RSC members can go shopping at
the RSC Virtual Convention. Wonderful vendors participate with some
extraordinary sales available only to members of RSC.

To make this ATC I used a background image from my Printmaster.

the design. I colored the butterfly with Twinkling H20s.

and
Monday's challenge is up at MyGrafico challenges
'Pink, Pink, Pink'

Over at Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends in the
DT Project Division the designers have been
featuring a lovely Butterfly Set by Dilek Design Studio from MyGrafico.

Here is a layout that I did for the Digi/Trad Scrapbookers Crew.
You can tell that I don't do many layouts because I forgot all about
doing a journal entry. The picture of the flower is from one our walks
along the Waccamaw River. I was practicing using the macro feature
on my camera.

I'm being Artsy Today

This beautiful background came from Graphics Fairy. The
site is just loaded with free vintage images.
The ATC background is the inspiration
for my Soartful challenge that I posted on Saturday.

I even came up with a sample.

When I inserted the girl's image it needed
to be cropped. I tried just cropping with one of the premade
shapes but I didn't like it at all. Use the 'Crop by Hand' tool?
Oh, just give it a try. Wow, I did it. Thank goodness it didn't
require too much detail. But I like how it turned out.
I wanted to add a flower to her hair next. The image that
I found was close to what I wanted but not quite right.
I changed the color a bit then hand cropped to leave
just the blossoms.

I get so tickled about hosting the challenge at Soartful. Me,
a beginner, setting up challenges for the experienced.
So if I can do this, so can you. Your creation doesn't have to
be digi. Any thing goes and is much welcome.
Won't you join me at Soartful.
I post a new challenge every Saturday.

More Artsy doings at ggdesigns.
The October Challenge has just been posted and it is
a beauty. The challenge uses Ida's Watercolor Click Class.
This is a fabulous way to do watercolor. And, there is
the added bonus of Ida visiting ggdesigns thoughout
the month to answer your questions and give helpful tips.
Here is just a sample of Ida's watercolor technique.

Are you ready to try this? I am!

Butterflies

I've already been to a yard sale this morning in our neighborhood.
I came home empty handed. I do have dibs on a headboard. They
didn't want to break up the set, so I have to wait to see if it sells
or not. My fingers are crossed.

Sapphire
My inspiration for this is taken from a butterfly display.
Only in my imagination is there a sapphire butterfly. The coloring
is done with glitter gel pen. The butterfly is from the MyGrafico
Dilek Design Studio Digi stamp set. There are 6 butterflies in
this set, all different.

Scrapbooking & Crafting Friends

This butterfly is from the same set of digi stamps as above.
I haven't decided which DT division to post this
card in yet.

Group Hop

Eastern Time

Each group will be participating in this fun hop. There
will be questions & answers, games, challenges, inspiration samples and prizes.

I'll be there.

have been some wonderful pieces submitted. I'd like to see you
there. All artwork is welcome.

Where Did Yesterday Go?

Well part of my day was spent in the dentist's chair. I went in to have my last two fillings done. When I left there, I had the new fillings and a new root canal. The surprise root canal is to try to save a tooth that is on the endangered list. If I lose it, it will mean a new bridge. So, Dr. Miller came up with a new plan. If this doesn't work all of the cost of the root canal will be applied to the new bridge. This could take up to a year for the healing process. So, please, think 'heal tooth heal'.

MyGrafico is taking part in the PaperCraftPlanet group blog hop to celebrate
World Card Making Day October 3rd. Every hour starting at 10 a.m. will
have a new company sponsoring an hour of fun and prizes at their PCP
group. MyGrafico is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern.
See Schedule of Events at PCP.
See ya' there!

On September 30th, the Wood Veneer Challenge came to an end
at ggdesigns. Here are your winners.......

1st Place....Karen's Tree of Life

2nd Place.....Yogi's Best Wishes' card

and, a 3 way tie for 3rd
