Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Vintage Playmates

I made this for the following challenges
Anything Goes
Image of boy provided
Image Provided

I started with the image of the boy. Next, I cropped the girl from
the image that Peggy gave us for Fri Foto Collage and altered the
color. She was added to the boy image. I then went thru
different backgrounds trying them out for style and color.
I finally settled on the diamond and swirl pattern.
The smaller panel was layered and the color matched
to the browns in the background. It still needed something.
I went thru lots of images and came of the with dog. I like
how he has his front paws on the boy. He wants to play, hence,
the title Playmates. I added a bright red ball for the toy.

Have a wonderful Monday.
I'm off to run some errands before
it gets way to hot out.
It is just 7 a.m. already it is in the 80s.

A Sketch with a Flair

I used the sketch and water as the challenges required.

My page features pictures taken on one of my trips to the beach.
I visit the beach at Huntington Beach State Park which is
one mile from my house. After entering the park you come
to the causeway. This is where these pictures were taken.
This particular morning there were just scads of alligators and
herons. It is a favorite picture taking spot.

I went outside really early this morning and mowed the
front yard. I also picked up bunches of small branches
and twigs that were scattered all over the yard. This mess
was caused by the unexpected, very intense storm we had
the other night. It really rained and blew. I'm so glad
that it didn't last very long.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.

Here Comes the Bride

It's Friday and that means
has a new challenge posted.
The theme this week is
Buttons and Bows
Our challenge is sponsored by Lil Diva Stamps
and this image is called Goth Bride.
It is printed on beautiful white shimmer paper.
This beautiful card stock was a RAK from my friend Susan.
This is my last sheet and I have to get more.
I didn't even do any coloring except her hair and skin.
Stop in to see a variety of Buttons and Bows
cards done by the DT. You'll like what you see.
This challenge is open until Thurs, July 29.
Won't you join us at
I Did It Creations challenges.

I have a dwarf Brown Turkey fig tree in a huge patio pot.
That little tree outdid itself with figs this year. Yummy.
We also have lots of birds here and the Mockingbirds go
crazy for my figs. I put a bird net over the tree this year. I
was just about ready to remove the net and let the birds have
their share of the figs. I went out to water in the a.m.
and a Mockingbird had gotten caught in the netting trying
to slip in under the bottom. That poor thing was
frantic. I finally got the bird untangled and the net off the
tree. I'm so glad that I found the bird in time. I'll have to be
more careful and anchor the netting down better next year.

I love how this card turned out. My new Wild Orchid flowers are so pretty.
I just love them. There is a bit of lace from my unending supply from the
thrift shop vest. I used my Cuttlebug and Spellbinder ovals for my
mirror and cut out the butterfly, sculpted it a bit and put it on
with a glue dot. The digi image of the high button shoes and hat
are popped out with pop dots. The card is further embellished with
half pearls. I also did some dry embossing around the
edge of my card. I used my new Scor-Pal.

I'm going to send this card to my mom. She wore high
button shoes when she was a girl.

Have a wonderful day.

Pink Flamingo

My Pink Flamingo card has lots of glitter. You can almost see it....
it's on the flamingo, palms, birds and the button sun.

At the Beach
Monthly challenge

No Sentiment

I really had fun doing these challenges. I guess I'm a challenge junkie.

Here is a one stop link to challenge blogs

Yesterday, we drove to Georgetown, SC, to do some shopping.
Georgetown is less than a 30 min drive from our house. We go
there quite often because the drive is beautiful. Anyway, on our
way there yesterday I saw a wild turkey on the side of the road.
That is the first one that I've seen here. I was surprised to see just
one. I thought they were usually seen in flocks. When I was
a young girl we raised turkeys once. You know it's just like they
say.....turkeys aren't very smart. Pretty yummy tho.

Enjoy Monday and the start of another great week.

My Dad

This is the last picture of my dad before he died.
I made a shadow box with the picture and also with
his wallet with some of the contents on display.
The shadow box has a fishing theme because my dad
was an avid fisherman.

I never dreamed this would fit so many challenges
The theme
Father and Daughter/Son from
People and/or Places
The Great Outdoors

Notice the small picture at the bottom on one side of the box,
that's me. I was in high school when that was taken. He carried
that picture in his wallet since 1956.

A Couple of Tags for Thursday

Let's play BINGO

Oops, I missed the Bingo challenge
But here is my Bingo card anyway.

So on to the next challenges

Something Borrowed
Red, White & Blue

My borrowed item is the playing card that I've altered.
I glued wrinkled tissue paper on the card and let dry.
I smudged Bisque Red ink and then a bit of
Vintage Photo ink to tone the red down a bit.
I was so disappointed in how the playing card
turned out that I almost didn't use it. But, all
embellished with a digi image, gems and fringe,
I'm pretty happy with it.

I hope it isn't to warm where you are.
Thanks for visiting
Have a wonderful day.

2nd Post of the Day

Orange & Yellow
America the Beautiful

The yellow and orange background papers are from Dragon's Lair.
The photo is mine taken of Heirloom Tomatoes at a
Farmer's Market. The rest is clip art.

I was lucky enough to travel across our beautiful country
in an RV. We were on the road for about 3 years. One of the
things that impressed me was the fact the whatever state
that we were in had some kind of produce. I saw beautiful
corn fields, orchards of all kinds and fields produce.

She's Painting Again

Both of my children are very artistic. But neither of them
do much artwork anymore.
My daughter, Susan, has recently started painting again.
Here are two watercolors that she did.

I think they are beautiful.

If you would like to read her story of how she
started painting again, visit her blog Cinnamon Thoughts.

Just a proud mama wanting to share.

A Call for Help and A Bit of Scrapping Going On

“Kickin’ It” for Michelle

On Wednesday evening, June 23, Michelle had an accident while tending her beloved donkeys which has left her blind in her right eye. In Art Deco /Art Nouveau Style

There must be a difference in these 2 styles but to me
they are so similar that I'm using the 'style' as one.
I created this
digital piece for the following challenges

Art Nouveau
Art Deco

I was having a hard time finding a font for my sentiment. I finally settled
on this one titled 'art deco'. I didn't think I could go wrong.

Still enjoying your long holiday weekend?

Happy 4th of July

Now until July 3rd

I hope you are enjoying your OWH Blog Tour

A couple of challenges for a Sunday
LO Favorite Store

This layout is composed of things that were made from a purchase at
one of my favorite stores.....a thrift store. My purchase was
a beautiful trimmed vest. Way too small for me but perfect to recycle
the different embellishments in to my craft projects.
The background is a scanned picture of a portion of the vest.
See, I still lots of items left to use. The card is made from
pieces of the vest and the wings on the tag are part of
the lace trim from the vest.

Street Art

On my last visit to LA to see my daughter she took me out
shopping in her neighborhood. This is a mural on the
side of an army/navy store. This is just a portion of the mural
and it is of a real person from the neighborhood. He died not
to long ago and there were articles in the paper about his death.
He was a very popular and a very well know homeless person.
He roamed the streets dressed as in this picture making
friends where ever he went.
He will always be remembered because of this mural.

All That Glitters

Now until July 3rd

I hope you are enjoying your OWH Blog Tour

I made this card for the following challenges

Make it Sparkly
Flower Power
Hazy Lazy Days of Summer
Great Outdoors

Summer and outdoors mean gardening and flowers to me.
That is until it gets to hot and humid for me to be
My little oriental girl is just coming back from
gardening bringing this huge bouquet of flowers.
I glittered almost everything on this card. My new Scor-Pal
arrived and I decided to make a series of scores on the
card front. Then I made the mistake of glittering them.
I really don't like that too much. The oriental trim
isn't showing up the right color. It is more the
blue of the girl's dress. My coloring is done with
Copics, even the flowers.

I hope you are having a wonderful 4th of July weekend.

Red.........the New Black

says with their theme
'Red......the New Black'
also for
Torn Paper
Summertime w/Sparkles

I've got red, the new black and there is tons of glitter that doesn't
show up here. The black and white panels are torn.
My black and white paper is digital.
I colored in the stylistic flowers on the center round with shades
of red. Added the flower. Flowers always say
summertime to me.

Right now in my garden, I have gladiolas, canna lily, day
lily and roses in bloom. My gardenia bush just finished blooming a
few days ago. I don't have a lot of color in my garden. My favorite
plant in my garden is my elephant ear plant. They start from
a 4 inch bulb and then after the first sprout comes up,
you can almost watch them grow. I have several and they
are quite large.

I had a wildflower patch in the back yard last year but
my husband grumbled every time he had to mow around
them. A few came up this year but not like last year.
