Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Nature Silhouette

I'm very late with this post this morning.  Oh well,
life gets in the way sometimes.  Life meaning being on the
fringes of Hurricane Irene as she came near our area.  Thank goodness
we didn't have a lot of damage in our area.  We did have quite
heavy winds and downpours come through.
That was just about enough for me.

Today begins a brand new challenge week at
Not only do you get a new challenge today but you
also get me posting the challenge blog again.
Yep, Wendy has left us and I am back again.
It is fun though.  I love posting each new winner.
It could be you this week.
Our new challenge theme is
This is the card that I made
using our current sponsor, Toucan Scraps, beautiful
silhouette digi stamps.

I did my card in an image program.  I found this beautiful picture and
resized it to a larger size  and then to another smaller.  I layered the
smaller in the center of the base image and then highlighted with
a shadow.  The last step was adding the silhouette.  Oh and
finding a nice quote.  I love this technique and use it every once
in awhile.

Everyone is welcome to join in the IDIC CHALLENGE.
You might just win a prize and then I'll get to post your name.

Thanks for joining me this week

It's that time again......Back to School

This is a card that I made using 3 digis to create a scene.
They are new release 'Back to School' digis available now at
All of Robyn's digis are currently 30% off.

To do this resize and layer png format images. These are included in
most digi stamp zips that you purchase.  Some png images are transparent
and some are white like the one that I used.

continued on

Look, I'm almost finished and I make a boo boo, darn!

I smudged blue on her nose area when coloring her eyes.
It was too big to remove with Copic Colorless Blender.
Oh no, I don't want to start all over again.

I can fix this.  Here is what I did.  I scanned my card with the smudge and then
uploaded it to my image program.  I took the girl image that I had used
and placed it right over my messed up area.

all fixed

I continued coloring and here is the finished card.

Being able to mix and match, and do quick fixes,
is one of the many benefits of using digi stamps.

Gone Fishin'

Our theme is
and we are sponsored by
for my card this week I chose

I love this card starter.  I chose the brown tone for my card.

Added a computer generated sentiment and the fish.
I used a tapestry image as a frame.

I love silhouettes and this one reminds me of my dad.
He loved fishing.  In fact, that is how my family spent their
vacations.  We would camp along the river, no park campsite for us.
Sometimes there would be several of my aunts and uncles
along with us.  I'm from a big family of fishermen.  I remember
daddy would go out and catch breakfast while mom heated
up the old cast iron skillet.  We would have crispy fried trout for
our breakfast.   I got really good at picking out the bones.
I think I must have had one of the best childhoods ever.

This card is for the following challenges:

Secret Crafter - Create a Scene
My Sheri Crafts - Vacation

I'm so baaaaaaaaaaaaad!

Today is new challenge day at
but I had a senior moment and made my
DT card for the wrong challenge.
I didn't have time to make another.
The challenge this week at IDIC is
Shaped Cards
sponsored by
who by the way
is offering the perfect freebie for your shaped card here.
And, until August 31st all digis are on
Sale at 20% off

You can buy shaped card templates at places like
but there is an easier way to make your shaped card by
using a digi image.

With just a few snips with your scissors you have a shaped
card and a ready to color and embellish digi image.
You can also resize to make your digi image card larger or smaller.
Here are just a few of the Robyn's Fetish digis that I found
that would easily make shaped cards.

I hope this shaped card idea makes up for not having a
DT card to share for our

Blackbeard the Pirate

It has been such a long time since I've played around
with a digital creation.   I was in the mood this morning and this
is what I came up with.

Edward Teach better known as Blackbeard spent a lot of time
sailing and plundering all along the coast where I live in SC.
He died just north of where I live in Ocracoke NC.

The shipwreck of  Queen's Revenge is now being recovered
in Beaufort Inlet NC.  Approximately half of the artifacts
from the ship have been recovered.
I was lucky enough to visit that area of NC.  We stayed in our RV
in at Hatteras National Seashore on the Barrier Islands of NC.  There is lots
of history in that area.  The site of the Wright Brother's first flight is
also in that area.

This is for the

Fear of the Art Journal

Robyn has started a new Art Journal Club.  We meet in the chat room
on Mondays.  She also provides us with daily prompts and a challenge or
two along the way.  I've never done a journal in my life.  Our first challenge was Fear.
As you can see  I'm fearful of the blank page.
I'm sure I will conquer this fear as I work on my pages.
To make this one I smeared on Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced
Marmalade and Black Soot.  The Fear label is computer generated.  The stamp
is Lady Anne from Stampsmith.
That at the very bottom is my scribbling.

Quite some time ago I read where Suze Weinberg was selling
some of her personal stamp collection.
Suze is known for her Melt Art projects using her UTEE
For $50.00 I received a huge  box of assorted stamps.
She even threw in some other fun
things.  The Lady Anne stamp was in that box of goodies.

Oh dear, here is the second challenge

Challenge #2 is your cover or first page or if you have done that already you make a spread using some sort of texture like Glass Bead Gel or Joint Compound or Molding Paste. Something like those. making some sort of raised image. You buy Joint Compound at your Hardware Store. Menards, Best Buy some place like that.

If your going to do your first page we discussed "Owning the Page" ... Make it yours. start out with "I am so and so" My name is so and so.. etc.. make it yours!!

Stay tuned so you can follow my progress.

Mail Art

This is my first mail art project.  I've seen these in every issue of
my Somerset Studio magazines and loved them.
I had lots of fun stamping this.  I gathered some stamps that
I thought would work together and started stamping away.
Decided not to make it too complicated my first time, so I
used a monochromatic color scheme.

The main image is from LaBlanche Stamps.  This is a new stamping company
in the US.  Here is the link to a video about these unique silicone stamps.
Outlaw Women Scrapbook Emporium carries the complete line at
discounted pricing.
I have several now and love using them.
I used Tim Holtz distress inks in a soft brown and a touch of pink.
I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the colors that I used.
I must take better notes on what I use.

Challenges entered

Mami Doodles - Flowers
My Mum's Craft Shop  - Monochromatic
Creative Stamp Friends - Monochromatic

Enjoy your day.  I'm going to go outside this morning
and do a little gardening.  I can't believe it....
my Bottle Brush is blooming again.

This plant brings me so much pleasure.

Thanks for joining me today.

Are you just melting with the heat? That seems to be all
we talk about here in Myrtle Beach.  The thermometer just keeps
climbing a degree or two every day.  I could really use some rain.

I've been hiding out in my air conditioned craft room.
One of my finished projects is for a recent
Steampunk Swap that we had at

When I first saw the image of the woman I could see her hat embellished
with a cog or gear.    She has been cropped and placed on a fabulous
steampunk paper by Dezinaworld.  The image is layered and placed on more
designer paper and embellished with metal cogs and gears and butterflies.  The
balloon is clip art.

This is suitable for the following challenges
Frosted Designs - Circles
Ooh La La - Circles
Come and Get Challenged - Anything Goes
Opus Gluei - No Words
Gingersnap Spicy Supply Challenge - Gears, Cogs, Watch Bits

I sure hope you are staying cool.  Me, I'm waiting patiently for Fall.

Thanks for joining me today
