Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

In Print

Since my retirement, I seem to have trouble keeping track of what day
it is.   I'm so happy and contented that my days just fly by.   This will be my
last day to enjoy 2011.   I am more than ready to tackle what 2012 will bring.

From my house to yours
Happy New Year

This is a picture taken during my first visit to see mom after she
moved to Troy, Mt.   I visited during late November, brrrrrrrr!

To get the full effect of brrrrrrrr....take a look at these icicles.

Mom's home is a 1920s Sears Kit Home.  I think it is the most
charming house that mom has ever owned.

In my Dreams

I have battled with my weight all of my life.
I have an hourglass figure.   Just a little on the large side.
If I had my druthers, I'd look like this.

Life's a Beach

I created this for
Art Journal Page

My page is titled Life's a Beach

I live at the beach and love it.   My life is quite like a
beach......stormy at times.  Other times bright and sunny.
Whatever mood the beach is in I find that whenever I
stroll along the shore I'm renewed.
Yes, Life's a Beach.

Christmas Beauty

This is my piece for Soartful Challenge
Ceil Chapman and/or to use the colors Silver, Pink and Black

Dress by Ceil Chapman

Ceil Chapman is a new name in fashion design to me.
She was really quite famous and designed for some very famous
names.   She was a favorite of Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn's Ceil Chapman dress
This MM dress was put up for auction in Las Vegas in 2010.
Unfortunately, after 40 years in storage there is some staining.

To see more of Ceil Chapman's beautiful designs click here.

To read a fun and interesting post about Marilyn Monroe's
body measurements click here.

Well, it's time for coffee and the Sunday Paper for me.

Surreal Digital Art in the Albulena Panduri Style

Creating in the surreal style is really difficult for me.
I have a hard time not copying an original image.
Here are a couple of my best efforts for
inspiration from the softly surreal artwork of Albulena Panduri

In the Misty Moonlight

This is for 4x4 Friday
Theme - Moon

Played around learning what I can do in Picnik.

Talk Talk Talk

My contribution to the Collage Obsession challenge this week Trio.

I had a very pleasant call last night.   I found out that an apt
is now available for my mom in an assisted living place.
I've been so anxious to get her in a place where she will be
looked after and have a social life again.   Mom is 91 and living
alone since the recent death of my brother.   Needless to say
this is worrisome for me and mom is so isolated now.
All is about to change for the better.

Wild Mustangs

My home for over 20 years was a small community along the
beautiful Truckee River near Reno, Nv.  We had the lush beauty of the
Truckee and the stark beauty of the high desert surrounding our property.

This is one of the streets in the subdivision where I lived.

One of the things we had in abundance was wildlife.
We had coyote, raccoon, deer and often wild Mustangs as visitors.

The Mustangs roamed the foothills right behind our house.
These Mustangs were my inspiration for this piece.

I created this by combining two digital images and layering onto a torn
piece of black cardstock.   The embellishment is a combination of
an old purse clasp, charms, tangled burlap threads and just a bit of
gold thread.

A bit of trivia about a friend and the Mustangs.
He worked at the BLM in Reno where Mustangs and burros
were corralled and put up for adoption.  What always
tickled me is that he rode his horse to work.

Thanks for visiting a bit of the past with me.

Poinsettias Say Christmas

The theme for Sunday Postcard Art is

Playing around with the surrealist style, I came up
with the following

Poinsettia's come in all different colors these days.

Mitchell's Nursery

While poking around on the internet I found these adorable
Cat Nesting Dolls at Golden Cockerel

Oh my gosh, I think these are so cute.

A Little Bit Odd

Challenge Theme - Land of Odd

I started with this image cropped from one of Dezinaworld's.
A Winter Sale is going on there right now.

This is how she looked before I started chopping her to bits.

I hope June of Dezinaworld doesn't mind the changes.

These might also fit well in the Land of Odd.

Artastic Miss Oetken's Artists  has the cutest 2nd grade student artwork inspired
by William Wegmand.

In my immediate land of odd, the leaves are falling with abandon.
I'm on my second of what will probably be plenty of porch and patio clean ups.
Soon the the trees should be bare and I can call the yard man to
come rake the complete yard.

Thanks for stopping in today

The following is for
Challenge Theme - Asia

I chose the Panda for my Asian tag because I remember seeing
live Pandas when they were on loan to the Columbus Zoo in 1992

Columbus Zoo Panda Booklet

Be sure when you follow the link to click on the pages in the sidebar
to see more Panda photos.

We visited the Columbus Zoo just to see the Pandas.   Our primary
destination was a Landscape and Garden Exhibition that was being held in Columbus.
The name escapes me but I do remember that I was disappointed in
the exhibition.   The Pandas more than made up for that disappointment.

Jack Hanna has been the zoo Director since 1978.   My mom
would turn on his TV show Into the Wild  each day for her
dog Millie to watch.   Millie loved to watch TV.
I think Millie is watching the news in this photo.

Millie and her favorite pastime

Another memorable time while touring Ohio was a horse drawn
canal boat tour of the Erie Canal.   It was so quite and beautiful.
All that could be heard were the tow horses clopping down the
dirt trail.
I think that was the beginning of my love affair with
the beauty of the lush green that humidity brings.
We were then living in the high desert of Reno, NV.
It took about 15 years but I was able to retire
to a lush green beautiful place, South Carolina.

Thanks for stopping in today.

Steampunk on the Darkside

Creating something on the dark side suited my mood perfectly yesterday.

Smudgy Antics - Steampunk on the Darkside
Not a lot of Steampunk here just sadness.

I do a lot of reading.   Right now I'm reading Beach Music by
Pat Conroy.   I can hardly get to sleep at night
without reading at least one chapter before I nod off.
I have been noticing that novelists use several terms quite often.
It doesn't seem to make a difference as to the book genre.
One that I notice the most is

wishing evil or harm to another or others; showing ill will; ill-disposed; malicious: His failures made him malevolent towardthose who were successful.

evil; harmful; injurious: a malevolent inclination to destroy the happiness of others.

Astrology evil or malign in influence.

Isn't this the cutest Steampunk Ornament.  I found this
here.  Plenty more Steampunk Christmas ideas can
be found on Google Images

Oh, by the way, a brisk walk went a long way to brightening up my
dark mood yesterday.   The air out was fabulous.  The morning
was balmy and the ocean air was soft.

Joan Miro Style

This is my entry for the

My inspiration came from his artwork from Google Images, here.
This was a lot harder than I expected it to be.   How hard can it be
to create something in this style.
Like this.....

Incisiva by Joan Miro
or this.......

Believe me, it was pretty darn difficult for me.
This was my 3rd or fourth try.
Part of my problem is my limited image program.
I'm just going to have to master Photoshop.  I think I've been
saying that for quite some time now.   But, now that I have cut back
on some of my commitments, I'm going to give it a go.

I borrowed several different elements from his artwork.
The fields, splats and how colorful his art can be.

Just a note.....his artwork has been sold at auction for up to 13 million dollars.
Be sure to stop by Digitalmania to see more wonderful
Joan Miro style artwork and Google Images for his artwork.

Thanks for stopping by

I haven't participated in a
challenge in just ages.   But I love patterns, challenge theme,
and thought I'd give it a try.

This is what I came up with

Don't you just love the couple?  They are from one of my
clip art programs.    I like the soft curves of this couple
mixed with the hard shape of the cubes.

It is bright and sunny here today.   I am surprised at how
chilly our Coastal Carolina winters can be.   We woke up to
temps in the low 30s this morning.   Burrrrrrr!
We had real, stick on the ground snow 3 times last winter.
Oh, I hope that doesn't happen again soon.

I'm in Murrells Inlet

Thanks for joining me today.

I'm in Stitches

I've been wanting to do a Soartful challenge.   It sure brings back
happy memories of the time that I hosted that challenge.
It is now in Carla's wonderful hands.

Soartful - Sew Pretty

I started with the cute girl and the tag background provided by
Soartful.   I can't take credit for much here.   All that I added was the cute
cat and the sentiment.

Short and sweet today
