Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Either of the two moments in the year when the Sun's apparent path is farthest north or south from Earth's Equator.

This year winter solstice was Dec 21.

French Pantin Harlequin Doll

Pantin is the French word for Jumping-Jack Puppet and these type of dolls were popular in Europe from the 1700's till the early 1900's. Originally such dolls were made of wood or a pressboard material then later they were made simply of paper. The "Jumping-Jack part of the dolls comes from how they are assembled and the strings used to help the puppets: move, jump, dance.

Sew Vintage

Me sew?  Heavens to Betsy no!  I took sewing in
high school and I can do the basics....the very basic of basics.
I do love fabrics.  At one time I used a seamtress.  It was like
being in a candy shop when I went to choose my fabrics.

Steampunk Christmas

It's a Steampunk Christmas

Image Credits - Krystal & Sandy

No snow here or even any trains.
There was service here in times past.

The Myrtle Beach Train Depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places after the public fought to keep the building from being demolished.  Built in 1937, the Depot was restored and re-opened in 2004 and is available for events and gatherings.  The Train Depot is a popular place for wedding receptions, birthday parties, family reunions and club activities.

By the Sea

This beach scene could be right near me.  I live about 1 mile from
the beach here in Myrtle Beach SC.

Lately, I've been following the great white shark Mary Lee who has
been meandering up and down our coastline.  Right now she is
off the coast of Pawleys Island which is 2 1/2 miles down the road
from me.

Mary Lee being tagged with GPS.

Following Mary Lee

The red circle shows her right near Pawleys Island SC.

Garden Arch

Gothic Arch

OK, stretch your imagination because my arch isn't
exactly Gothic.

Sharing Tubes and Sheyzz Toybox

Sigh....I wish this were my garden.  Right now mine is a mess
of leaves.   The bright golden leaves are falling merrily from
our huge Hickory tree covering everything in sight.
I guess you know what is on my to do list.

Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was the inspiration photo for this challenge.
I decided to go with that, especially, since not to long ago I
watched Robert Downey Jr. do a fabulous job playing him
in the movie Chaplin.

Doing my research I stumbled upon this interesting tidbit....

"Lost Chaplin film discovered in $5 can bought on eBay"

"In 2009 the vendor Morace Park bought a battered cinema reel tin from an online auction site. Once he eventually opened the tin it revealed a roll of film entitled ‘Charlie Chaplin in Zepped’."

"No Buyer for Chaplin Film at Auction"

Paris Postcard

Mail Art

I wish I had sent this from Paris.

The fabulous fashion sketches were used in Banana Republic ads
for their Anna Karenina Collection.
I think they are fabulous.

I've not been fortunate enough to visit Paris but my daughter has.
Here are just a few photos from her 2007 trip.
Traveling on the bullet train
OMG! she's missing the scenery.

Shakespeare and Co. bookstore.  This is right across the street from
their hotel which also overlooked Notre Dame.

My favorite picture of the Eiffel Tower.

A street lined with local shops.

Digital Collage

I wasn't sure that I could pull off the first two digital collages.
We are challenged to work in the style of Nicki Newfield at
Digitalmania.   My collages seem a little more colorful than hers.

This collage started with one of Michelangelo's drawings.
Originally, there are twenty and Michelangelo refers to the
group of drawings as Ignudi.

Thought of Fall

The image of the woman is from Sharing Tubes.

This collage is for

rubys all new 5

All Wrapped Up

A while back Peggy mentioned the free on line

LunaPic to do Peggy's challenge.

All Wrapped Up

This is one of the three starter images for the challenge.

Thanks Peggy.

When I was young, Daddy and I went fishing all of the time.
What happened to that girl that could bait her own hook
and clean what she caught?
I'm sure I don't know.  Now, all of my fish comes in a package
or already prepared on a plate.

The very nice watercolor backgrounds are from

Google images for the fish.

Let it Rain

No rain here just coolish, bright, sunny days.
Sometimes, when we do get rain, it is so soft and warm.
I love it.  After one of those lovely rains I could eat the air
with a spoon.

Rainy Days

Little Rubber Ducky

This I did for Digitalmania.
Our challenge is to create in the style of collage artist,

I got off to several bad starts on this one.  I just couldn't get it all
to come together.  Then, finally, the magic began to happen...everything
fell into place.   There are so many layers to this that I can't begin
to count them or remember where I got what.

This week at Collage Obsession our challenge is to create
Word Art in association with food.

Yesterday was so cold and rainy.  It lasted the whole darn day.
Except for doing a little cooking, all that I did was play on the computer
or read.

Using Patterns

I know there is a proper designer way to mix patterns
but it escapes me.  I just used a mix that I liked.
Uhm?, maybe that's the right way....go with what pleases you.

This week at Digitalmania we are challenged to create

Most images are from Google Images but the fabulous
tree woman is from Finecrafted, Innervoice Kit.

And, a little softer

The background is 2 images blended together and
the rest of the images are from Sharing Tubes.

I hope you stop by Digitalmania for a visit or try a challenge sometime.

Fun With Altering Animals

This week Three Muses Challenge has the fun theme
of Animal Magic.

My version of a royal family created with
images from Sharing Tubes.

A Royal Family

While out on the world wide web, I found this fun children's (adult's?) game.
Switch Zoo lets you be creative with animals.

Here are a couple that I made.

I couldn't figure out how to save these to my computer so
I did screen captures.

Film Strip of Beauty

Maude Fealy

Maude Fealy was an American stage and film actress who appeared in nearly every film made by Cecil B. DeMille in the post silent film era.

I've seen her described as having "glacial beauty".  I think I agree.
She rarely smiles in any of her photos but when she does she's
totally transformed.

Up Up and Away.....

Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
Would you like to ride in my beautiful balloon
We could float among the stars together, you and I
For we can fly we can fly
Up, up and away

Can't you just hear the 5th Dimension singing this tune?
