Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

Give them a big hand

The challenge this week at
Forever Night's Freaky Fri is Wicked Treats.

I eat lots of popcorn.   I'd better be checking mine for spiders.

I want to give my husband a big hand today.   We just returned from
Charleston, SC, after having his 6 month check up after treatment for
a lung tumor.   All is fine.   The tumor shows no
activity after his radiation treatment.    He will have
another CT scan in 6 months.

My poor husband seems to be a cancer magnet.   About 10 years
ago he had his cancerous bladder removed.    About 6 months ago he
was diagnosed with the lung tumor and a pre-leukemic blood condition.
The lung tumor was very small and could be treated.  The blood
condition will require a lifetime of chemo to keep at bay.
Thank goodness the chemo is a mild dose and he tolerates it well
and has relatively few side effects.
You would expect spreading from the original bladder cancer
but that isn't the case.   His cancers are all new and unrelated to
each other.   Who would have ever thought of such a
possibility.   Not us.

Thanks for stopping by.

Medival Times

Getting a late start with posting today.   We ran out and did a little
shopping.   Nothing exciting... although, I did buy myself a really nice
hoodie on sale.   Speaking of sales, has everyone seen what has happened
at JCP aka J.C. Penney?   Here's the scoop

Sale prices become everyday prices. The company will use sales data from last year to slash prices on all merchandise at least 40 percent or lower than the previous year’s prices. So, a woman’s St. John’s Bay blouse regularly priced at $14.99 could have the “Every Day” price of $7.
Simpler pricing. Penney will use whole figures when pricing items. In other words, you won’t see jeans with a price tag of $19.99, but rather $20.

This new strategy of theirs might have interested me more if they
hadn't come up with such an obnoxious tv ad.  Video here.   Keep the
sound on low.

Now, on to my challenge piece for Just For Fun Thurs,
theme - Medival.

And, another Zetti Style lyric for Digitalmania.

A Bird in a Gilded Cage

CHORUS
She's only a bird in a gilded cage,
A beautiful sight to see,
You may think she's happy and free from care,
She's not, though she seems to be,
'Tis sad when you think of her wasted life,
For youth cannot mate with age,
And her beauty was sold,
For an old man's gold,
She's a bird in a gilded cage.

When I posted my Zetti piece I took a look at
the new ones that have been added.  Some really fun stuff
to see.  And, I found this link 10 Places to Find Free Images.  None
of the places listed are on my current list.  Guess I'll be doing some
exploring.

This post was accomplished without screaming once.

Ladies Day

My first project is for Three Muses challenge
Ooh La La, anything French

I chose the famous Can Can dancers from the Moulin Rouge

To read a little about the very racy Moulin Rouge click Here.

For Digitalmania  our challenge is create in Zetti style a Song Title.

What's New Pussycat

"What's New Pussycat"

What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
Pussycat, Pussycat
I've got flowers
And lots of hours
To spend with you.
So go and powder your cute little pussycat nose!
Pussycat, Pussycat
I love you
Yes, I do!
You and your pussycat nose!
What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
Pussycat, Pussycat
You're so thrilling
And I'm so willing
To care for you.
So go and make up your cute little pussycat face!
Pussycat, Pussycat
I love you
Yes, I do!
You and your pussycat face!
What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah
Pussycat, Pussycat
You're delicious
And if my wishes
Can all come true
I'll soon be kissing your sweet little pussycat lips!
Pussycat, Pussycat
I love you
Yes, I do!
You and your pussycat lips!
You and your pussycat eyes!
You and your pussycat nose!

Can you hear Tom Jones belting out these lyrics?

Get Lost

That is the theme this week at Macbre Monday Challenge even tho
we are to include at least a portion of a map.

This sort of reminds me of romance novel cover.  I guess it
is missing the ravishingly beautiful woman.   And, where is Fabio?
I did read those as a teenager but not any longer.
Nora Roberts is about as romance novelish as I get these days.

I just finished reading the Cat Who Dropped a Bombshell

Her Cat Who series began in 1966.  Her titles fill up a whole page in
her books.   The above novel is #28 published in 2006.   These are
such cute and quirky novels.  They take place in the small town of Pickax  in
Moose County, 400 miles North of everywhere.   Just plain
fun reading.

Having Some Fun.....

..... with numbers for the Crazy Amigo challenge.

And, more fun with lime and black for Dezinaworld Spot Prize challenge.

The shoe that I used is part of an Art Freebies image.   June, Dezinaworld, has
stopped adding new images at her Art Freebies site but her archive
of images are still available.  Even more are available at her Olde Curiosity Shoppe.
June is now offering her wonderful collage sheets for free.
Yes, what used to be sold at Dezinaworld is now free.   She has a wonderful collection
of collage sheets available.

Another rainy day for us here in beautiful Murrells Inlet.  Overall, this
has been our best winter weather in the last few years.   Most of our days
have been so balmy.   Love it, love it.

Elephants in Thailand

The theme is elephants at Collage Obsession this week.
They provided several elephant photos that we could use but
I decided to make a photo collage of my daughter's trip to
Thailand last year.

The happy travelers...Susan and her husband Will.
Photo taken at a market somewhere in Thailand.

One of their favorite day trips was to an Elephant Camp.

A couple of more photos from her flickr collections of Thailand.

Two Completely Different Styles

I don't seem to do much in the cute style.   But, I find it
still fun once I get started.   This is my card for
The Year of the Dragon
and
Dragons

Here is my very busy 4 x 6 inch card

And colorful, too.   I just kept adding and adding.
And, as for cute, I think that dragon is just the cutest.

Just for fun I looked up my year and will you look at that....

You were born in the Year of the Dragon

People born in the Year of the the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. They are also honest, sensitive, brave, and they inspire confidence and trust. Dragons are the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They neither borrow money nor make flowery speeches, but they tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them. They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters.

Now a change of style

This is for a flickr digital group

Our subject was this

Beachside

Starter image with thanks to Puroticorico

And I altered it to this

Moonscape

I began by altering the color of the original photo and created my moonscape from there.

Thanks for stopping in.

Things Happen in 3s

Here are three pieces for three different challenges.
challenge inspiration is the creative work of Sherry Parker.
Now this was really fun to do.

A little more traditional with Inspiration Avenue's Butterfly
challenge.   I think I'm late with my entry but I'm posting it anyway.

And last at Collage Obsession we are Dancing.
You have your choice of using the images they provide or not.
I chose to use my own and created this........

We have a favorite chicken take out place, Bojangles.   We don't
eat a lot of fried chicken but when we do....it's off to Bojangles.
Fried crispy with a hint of Cajun spice and biscuits to die for.
Lucky us, they just opened a new place so much closer to
where we live.   So last night was Bojangles and a Netflix movie.
We watched Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.
I think the chicken got a better review from us than the movie.

Gone Fishin

Fish

There is a lot of fishing going on around here.   I'm used to
fishing in rivers and streams.   Here it is all ocean fishing.
There are so many boats....little Jon boats to huge fishing boats
and everything in between.   It never fails, when I stroll the beach
I always see someone with a line thrown in the water.
"The most popular fish caught in the City of Murrells Inlet in January are Black Sea Bass, Spot, Vermilion Snapper, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel
Popular fishing sites in Murrells Inlet during January are Drunken Jacks, Morse Park, Huntington Park Landing, Voygers View Marina, Murrells Inlet Public Landing"

C. Carey Cloud Drawing - Shrimp Boat Dock
Trivia - Cloud designed Cracker Jack prizes

In Georgetown there is a shrimp dock that looks almost like
this painting.   It is off by itself down a dirt lane.   Very picturesque.
You can also find local shrimp sold from the back of pick up trucks.
While walking the boardwalk in old Murrells Inlet I watched
a fresh oyster catch being unloaded.

Caught in the morning and on the menu at Drunken Jack's  that same day.

Yummy!

Something a Little Strange

Don't you think Cutie here needs a different hairdo?

A Little Strange

I don't have snakes for my hairdo but I sure do need a cut.
My last one was horrible and I've been letting it grow out.   They'll
need plenty to work with to straighten out this mess.   Maybe tomorrow
will be the day.   Going to the beauty shop is way down on my
list of fun things to do.   But, seriously, I've got to go and
soon!

My Creepier Side

Haunted Design House the challenge is
Creepy Chic

This is about as creepy as I get.

As I'm doing this post I can hear the rain drops falling on the roof.
It is so nice to finally get rain and not just gloomy skies.
Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head....
guess what I'll be humming all day.
What ever happened to B.J. Thomas....

Monday, Monday

I have two to share today.

The first is for 3 Muses, Map

My version of what I'd see on a trip to Greece.

And this one is for Just For Fun Challenge, Art Deco.

Art deco (/ˌɑrt ˈdɛk/), or deco, is an eclectic artistic and design
style that began in Paris in the 1920s.  For some fun in that period
see Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris movie.
I give it a "thumbs up".

The Many Faces of Women

This is for this week's challenge at
The Many Faces of Women

I had to make two creations for this challenge.
I used this image because it was love at first sight.

I didn't do a thing to it except add the beautiful poppies and
the frame.

My second piece for this challenge is inspired by the
murals that you see on buildings these days.   Mainly,
the ones that I've seen in LA.

It was always fun to drive along the LA River and see the LA River Cats.

and

Isle of California, 1972

I was lucky enough to see the painting of this in progress because my husband
worked in the building, Village Studio.
To see how it looks now click here.
My LA days are over now except for visiting my daughter Susan.
When my life settles down a bit, I will be visiting again.  One of
the things on our agenda is visiting Zinnia in Pasadena

Be sure to follow the link to see how much fun we are going to have.

Paper Dolls

At Inspiration Avenue this week the challenge is
Paper Dolls

What little girl hasn't played with paper dolls.   Just because you have grown up
doesn't mean that you have to stop.    I've just begun to explore again the
magic of paper dolls.   These days they tend to be more artful than playful.

This was sent for an art doll swap.  My inspiration came
from older issue of Somerset Studio magazine.

This one is digitally created.   I love the trim for her bodice.
It's trim that I cropped from a shabby chic lamp photo.  In fact,
every thing that I used for this piece is just that.....a little piece
cropped here and there from a whole photo.    I love the soft colors.

Thanks for stopping by and playing paper dolls with me today.
