Yes, my life is in transition. I am now getting used to life as a widow. What will this bring? Time will tell.

A Guy Card

Just something plain and simple for
Color Splash
Black and White and a Touch of Color

I could use this truck for a trip to Sears.  Our dryer died yesterday of old age...
so off to get a new one today.  I had just washed my sheets.  It's
raining out so I have sheets and pillow cases draped all over in
the house.  Not a pretty sight.

School Daze

Back to School

School started here last week.  It seems, to me, to be starting much
earlier these days.   I remember
my first day of school as being after Labor Day.

My Hero

Sunday Postcard Art has challenged us to come up with a
comic book hero.
I had no problem coming up
with my comic book hero, or to be more accurate, the actor that
portrays my hero on screen, Robert Downey, Jr., Iron Man.
My husband still can't believe that I watch the Iron Man movies.

Torn Scraps Backgrounds

I visited Peggy's Friday Foto Collage this morning and she
had made the prettiest backgrounds for us to use.   I had just read an
article in one of my mags about doing this...and, wala, here is Peggy
to the rescue.

I couldn't stop at one I had to use two.
My digital tags.
I layered coordinating scraps, added the ribbon and a scribble border.

I thought this background had an oriental feel to it.

Thanks Peggy.

Traveling Steampunk Style

This is pretty simple but I really like it.
I'm really a novice at digital art and I haven't, yet, mastered
my Photoshop Elements.  I still plug along but it is a slow
process.  What I use now is the latest version of Printmaster.
It has some new capabilities that I like but at the same time it
really limits what I can do.  In fact, it seems my earlier version
had more editing features.    I just discovered a very easy and free
online image program that lets me add to what I can do.
LunaPic is worth visiting, here.  The flying machines came
with a background that I didn't want.  With LunaPic I was
able to remove it with the click of a button.   I have an older post,
here, that shows some other LunaPic edits that I've made.

Tattered Endings

I had a hard time coming up with something for this challenge.
I had several false starts and then things started to fall into place.

Sadly, before we know it summer will be ending.

Vintage Circus

This elephant reminds me of Bertha the Elephant from
The Nugget Casino in Sparks, NV.

Here she is carrying one the the Nugget's famous headliners on
stage in the Celebrity Theater.

Bertha was quite the performer at the theater
(the opening act) and community volunteer.
Her barn was open for visits and she attended many
charity events in the Reno/Sparks area.  During a visit
at a children's event at the park Bertha's trainer let all of the
children circle around to pet Bertha.  Yep, there I was
reaching out my hand just like the rest of the kids.

The Magic of Fairies

When the winds of March are wakening the crocuses and crickets,
Did you ever find a fairy near some budding little thickets,...
And when she sees you creeping up to get a closer peek
She tumbles through the daffodils, a playing hide and seek.
~Marjorie Barrows

Don't Rain on my Parade

And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.

Digi Fun at the Click of a Button

Thanks to Peggy at Friday Foto Collage I found a new to me
online digital editing program, LunaPic.  I had so much fun playing.

It is fun, quick, easy and free.
If you are at all like me and haven't mastered one of the
more complicated image programs this is for you.

Now for examples and entries in the following challenges

Flutter By Wednesday - Fairy or Butterfly
Yes, Danni is back with her fun challenge.
Ruby Stock Challenge - Nature collage
using 2 of several images provided.

The following were all done in LunaPic.

Collage turned into a pretty nice kaleidscope for
Friday Foto Collage - Kaleidoscope

Needlepoint effect
Click image to enlarge for full effect

Playing around some more.

Kaleidoscope Effect

It's OK but I really don't like the color.

Tinted Purple

and then turned into this

I think I'll be using this program a lot.
Thanks to Peggy.

Sea Shells by the Sea Shore

Studio Manu, Broderbund, Cilena Curtis

Remember this tongue twister?

She sells sea shells by the seashore.
The shells she sells are surely seashells.
So if she sells shells on the seashore,
I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

“Reflection must be reserved for solitary hours; whenever she was alone, she gave way to it as the greatest relief; and not a day went by without a solitary walk, in which she might indulge in all the delight of unpleasant recollections.”

Let's Go Traveling

Sometimes this is how it seems to be when I move from
one concourse to the other in a big airport, a twilight zone.
I find so many of the corridors are so long and bleak.
Then, you arrive at an airport that has wonderful art
on display.   Much more enjoyable.  One time
in Salt Lake City they had a wonderful collection of
children's art.  Wow! some of those kids really show talent.

The carnival is coming.
You are invited to join in the fun.

You can be a participant or just a visitor.
All details can be found here.
You can join me and many others on Oct. 6, 2012.

Let's go to the Circus

I had a lot of fun with the circus theme.

I can only remember going to one circus in my life.
The experience is kind of fuzzy because I think I was
about 6 years old and that's and awfully long long time ago.

Pop Art using James Gill Style...well, sort of

I belong to the Flickr Group Digitalmania.  For me the name
of the group explains it all.....their challenges can turn me into a
raving maniac.   This week our challenge is a style of pop art.
Unknown to me, there are other pop artists out there other than
Andy Warhol.   We are exploring the style of James Gill this week.

The Strawberry

Most of the images used are from my collection.  I did grab
a lovely heaven background from here.  I've almost buried it
in layers but it adds a soft glow to the background.

Going to the Orient....... way of Collage Obsession's Oriental challenge.

I used background paper and bamboo tree by Lindalou's Scrap Spot.
There you will find a nice selection of freebies.   The Geisha and Mt Fuji
images are from Google Images.  And, gosh, I don't remember where the
flamingos came from.

Playtime is over now.  I have some outdoor chores to get finished
before the temps get to darn hot.

Vintage Circus

Night Circus

Well, I know nothing about Night Circus.  So, I Googled and found
out it is a novel and a movie.   I was also hampered by not having
many circus images.   Ah ha!  Google came to my rescue once again.

Pink Kiss of Love

I found this wonderful image called the Kiss of Love
by DeviantARTist Milen07.
Inspiration Avenue challenges us to use Pink this week and
I connect pink with romance.....perfect.

The original art is in tones of brown which I tinted pink for
the challenge.

By the Sea

It is so nice having 4 x 4 Friday back with their
fun challenges.    This week we are By the Sea.

Enjoy my slightly surreal piece.

Apricot Glow

Be sure to stop by and see the many different versions of this theme.
Everyone is so creative.

I chose one of my favorite fruits to use as my orange.

Apricot Glow

I Googled the apricots and the flowers are from an old clip art collection of mine.
The glow texture is from InSight Designs. I love the textures that I
find there.  My image is layered between two versions of Light Blurs.

I found this poem at DeviantART.
